What customers say?

“ Historic, I barely walked in and the first thing before ordering my tacos was to serve myself three whole avocados. Very simple, humble, I might even say a bit messy. There isn't a huge toppings bar like at other taquerias, but what's there is more than enough... The meat tastes very good, well-seasoned, two types of salsas, cabbage, radishes, and cucumbers with red onion and pickled ancho chiles and/or with lime, and the house seal of whole avocados. The eating counter is right next to the grill, about two feet away. There are more single chairs with no table behind them. There was a portacool, which with the grill blowing away wasn't enough in this scorching July. As if that weren't enough, you're impregnated with the smell of the grilled meat from the smoke; you become the grilled meat! Not only your hair, clothes, and even underwear, but your very being, your soul! The place is so small and the grill is so close. Of course, in summer, with 45 degrees like today, a half-liter of coke tastes like heaven. ”

“ One of Mexicali's iconic taquerias, famous for its tasty ahuja tacos with avocado slices. This business has moved but is still run by the same hardworking and friendly chef. Despite the simple facilities, people from all walks of life have come to eat here. ”

- Armando Camacho -

“ Excellent service and attention. The tacos are still delicious, and it's the original place where they serve them with a whole avocado! Even though they moved, the quality remains the same. ”

- Raul Godinez -

“ This place what you call a hole in the wall. Don't be shocked how dilapidated how this places looks. Open from 8 am to 6 pm or the run out of meat. It has been around more than 40 years. So if the food was not good it would not be here still. The tacos are delicious. Very simple. Served with pinto beans, cabbage, two types of salsa, whole avocado and pickled mixture of cucumbers, onions, jalapeños and carrots. So check and give it try. They are very friendly and welcoming too. ”

- Tyrone Mascareñas -

“ Nothing fancy and no adjacent parking but the tacos are great. They have "tripitas" and use bone in short ribs "Abuja de res". They dice the meat removing the bone and place the succulent fatty beef in your choice of corn or flower tortillas. The location is a down a dirty hole in the wall. ”

- Jorge J. Santana Sr. -

“ A place steeped in tradition in Mexicali. Their ahuja tacos are famous, and getting half a sliced avocado is their trademark, their style. I don't know a place where they serve you like this. An iconic Mexicali spot. Good salsas and great service. These are homemade tacos; that's how grilled beef tacos should taste, with the flavor of smoke and fat, with tortillas heated on the grill. Taqueria "La Tormenta del Desierto" Grilled beef tacos, tripe tacos, quesadillas, vampiros, squid, flank steak, arrachera, 100% natural lemon water. ”

- Alex Combo -

“ a must for every curious soul out there, the looks of the place do not corelate with the tasty tacos served there. It's not you run of the mill meat, we're talking rib right here. Add to it the avocados served up straight and you've got yourself a damn fine meal. Beware, thought, there open during the day only! ”

- Karlos Reyna -

“ Place is kinda dirty but the tacos more than made up for it..... ”
